Rose Mary Lundy contacted the Website recently about a pair of green Frankoma “Billikens” that she inherited from her mother-in-law. She described them as wall pockets that read, Jester’s Day, May 7-8, 1954, Host, K.S. “Boots” Adams, on the bottoms. She even sent pictures:
“My father-in-law was a Greyhound bus driver and drove the chartered bus to the party. He was given these as a souvenir.”
Her father-in-law’s name was A.D. Lundy, who drove for Greyhound for many years out of Tulsa, where he also lived. He started driving for Greyhound soon after WWII and was employed until around 1978. He passed away in 2001.
The party was in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
The Billikens were always referred to as “The Jesters”, but no one knew much about them, Rose Mary told us. Her mother-in-law downsized and gave them to her in the early 2000’s.
“Recently, I did a Google search and came upon the Billiken name and history. So good to know! 😊”
Thanks, Rose Mary, for sharing your story with us.
